Hi! JotBot here. Here's the short version: we built Jottly to be played and shared, not to harvest your data.

Jottly is a word game made by Drew Sullivan at Iced Matcha Labs ("we," "us"). This policy explains what information the app does, and does not, involve.

Information we don't collect

We collect no email, contacts, location, advertising identifier, or usage analytics. Jottly has no login and integrates no third-party advertising, attribution, or analytics services. The only detail ever shared is a display name, if you choose one, and only with the friend you're playing, so they know who they're playing. That's its only use; we never use it to track or profile you. Anonymous play is totally fine!

Information used to play

To make a two-player word game work, some information is created on your device and, for games with a friend, synced through Apple's iCloud / CloudKit so both players stay in sync:

• Gameplay content: your secret word, moves, streaks, and your display name, which is a playful handle by default that you can change to your own name or keep anonymous (there's no sign-in or account, and nothing to manage). For a game with a friend, this is shared with that opponent so the game can be played.
• A push token: if you allow notifications, Apple provides a device token used only to tell you when it's your turn. You can turn notifications off any time in iOS Settings.

This data lives on your device and in Apple's iCloud infrastructure under Apple's privacy policy. We do not run our own servers and do not use this content for advertising, profiling, or tracking.

Purchases

Jottly is completely free. There are no in-app purchases, subscriptions, or ads, so there is nothing to buy and no payment information is ever collected or processed.

If you email us feedback, we'll receive your email address and whatever you write, and use it only to read and respond. We don't add you to any list.

Children

Jottly is suitable for a general audience and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because there's no account and no data collection, no personal profile of any player is built.

Data retention and deletion

Game data stays until you delete a game in the app or remove the app. Deleting the app removes its local data; iCloud game data follows Apple's iCloud handling for your account.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update the date above and post the revised version at this URL.
